Enxhi posts on 12/30/2008 5:23:09 PM Wow! I just finished your book "The Cage. It is a very good book.I cried through the whole book. You are a very strong person. I could not be that strong if I lost my brother and sister and my parents.I raised my little brother because my parents are always at work, and when he says " I love" you to me, it means the world to me because he's only 3 They mean the world to me and you are a real hero. For some reason while reading the book It put me in your position. I felt like i was there and not at home. I felt like I was you. I have read so many Holocaust books, but none like yours. My great uncle was tortured too by the nazis. He was a deaf-mute, and the nazis captured him wanting to know where there were Jews. He could not understand what was going on. Since he wasn't talking they thought that he was going to speak so they took steaming hot boiled eggs with their shells and put it on his weakest skin which was his armpit. After hours they realized he was deaf and mute and they released him, but he had frightning dreams and he couldn't sleep he had so many nightmares. This happened in Albania.Every time I think of what happened to everyone in the Holocaust I cry for everyone that was humiliated and taken away from there families. I probably will never experience anything like that in my life, but someone during class once said why should we keep talking about it, it's the past. That comment angered me because its so important to remember all those people that struggled in the past alive. I also have a question, did you and Karola still keep in touch after being liberated? And Tola too?

twinkle posts on 12/21/2008 11:08:52 AM Hi ms ruth! I've read your book 'the cage' for many times already and everytime i do, i cry. it had touched my heart, made me sad for the experiences you went through and at the same time, hope for better things and better world. The line, "the world was silent' made me think. it encouraged me more to offer all that i can do for fellow people who are in need. indeed, turning the head away in times of abuse is the same as the abuser. i hope i can find a copy of the sequel To Life and The Holocaust Lady.
