Of course the obvious theme is-You can't judge others until you know what they are thinking etc.One of the secondary themes is everyone has problems in their lives even if on the outside they appear normal or problem free. Another can be face your problems,running away does not help.
I love this book and so did my students. There are many other sub themes as well and the book has many avenues for discussion.
