Sister Souljah Message Board

Tiana posts on 12/11/2008 9:43:57 PM I have read all of Sista Soulja's books including midnight and I must say I am a bit disappointed in the way black women are portrayed in the book midnight. The American born black women in comparison to all other women in the book were looked down apon as if they were garbage which is an image that does not sit to well with me.
alexis_mention posts on 12/10/2008 10:55:50 PM This book :Midnight is fantastic, i read all SS books and i love this one , it made me cry, Midnight is every woman's dream , it took me away into a fantasy land ,i couldnt put it down , i will reread it forever and pass it to my kids to show them that's how a real man should be:thinkin ,treating women, i am impressed with this book and shocked that some people were dissapointed but to each his own. This story made me feel wonderful inside and also happy to see the pics on the comer of UMMa , Akemi and Midnight himself.Dear SS, please keep up ur fantastic work and to Midnight < i wish u luck and b safe, love Alexis( im 26, Russian and BK till i die!!!)
geri posts on 12/7/2008 12:27:20 AM I think the book was a good enlighten read. This book should have went under a different name. The negative comments being posted are a result of readers feeling mislead because so many of us respect and trust sister. If another writer would have pull this deceitful trick, it wouldn't hurt so much. Winter's mom "Toni Childs"

blondie posts on 12/1/2008 8:34:52 PM I think Laz Alonzo will be the perfect man to play Santiago. For those of you who don't know him, he played Regina kings husband in the movie "This Christmas" he's light-skinned,with curly hair and fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and for Mrs.Santiago, I was thinking Kenya Moore, she played on the movie "Trois" as gary dourdain's wife.
Kristina posts on 11/30/2008 5:04:57 PM Midnight was a good story but he did not fit the Midnight who was in Coldest. Especially how it ended could not fit into Coldest because he supposedly went to jail at 14 in Coldest. Like I said before it was good but it wasn't as good as Coldest.
blondie posts on 11/29/2008 2:32:51 PM reagan gomez is too old to play winter. If memory serves me correctly, winter was a teenager. reagan don't look young enough to play a seventeen year old. I think laura london will be perfect for the part.
Michelle posts on 11/28/2008 3:08:57 AM I loved Sister Souljah's prequel! This book helped me understand why Midnight acted the way he did in Coldest Winter Ever. If you look closely to the part where Midnight is admiring the porsche outside the gym you can see that the initials on the seats read "RS" which I assumed to be Ricky Santiaga. Souljah did a wonderful job incorporating the Sudanese culture that made it look really beautiful. Keep up the amazing work Sister Souljah!
Tricina Crain posts on 11/17/2008 11:50:55 AM I was expecting the novel to be about a gangsters romance some how..In the novel Midnight is no where near a gangster..I think the book was good and it made me look at black men and women in a different light, but I also believe I was very mislead in what to expect out of the book..but maybe that was souljas way of getting people to read the book..I think she should have just created a new character instead of using Midnight from the Coldest Winter Ever..It kind of throws you off..
Tiffany posts on 11/12/2008 5:43:18 PM Wow...what a story i was blown away. I expected it to be a sequel to Coldest Winter Ever but truthfully i was not disappointed. Though he is fiction i admire Midnight with a passion i feel like i know him, and i relate to his love for his Umma. I also loved her she was warm and homely, i loved his own little Sudan and the vivid descriptions of their world. Touching base with the passion he and Akemi shared it was wonderful i felt their love and energy leaping off the pages. I am hoping for a part 2 to this very captivating story.
kesh posts on 11/12/2008 4:59:48 PM Midnight was a great book. If you read the book you will see that it is before he meets Santiaga. In Coldest, he writes to sister soulja that he went to jail when he was 14 and met Santiaga after he was released. I think this book takes you deep into the mind of a young, mature male. The love story is so intriguing. I think you guys should just forget about Coldest and read Midnight as a book on its own. I love it, love it, love it, love it and I'm waiting on the sequel. To be honest Coldest wasn't as great as everyone tried to make it seem. Winter is a very immature female, that I couldn't relate to at all in the book. So keep doing ya thing Soulja, I dig what you trying to get across.
