Raneya Daniels posts on 12/23/2006 4:46:42 PM I don't have a favorite scene in the book. The whole book is my favorite. Why? B/c it shows me a side of life I myself am glad to say I have not experienced. For those who had no choice to live that life more power to you. If it don't kill you it can only make you stronger.
Michelle posts on 12/22/2006 8:46:25 PM Having your opinion about who plays who is cool but at least let the book description match the person you want to play that certain character. Example. Winter had brown skin..I remember they decribed her as having "cinnamon" skin. Cinnamon is brown...why are you saying light skin ppl can play her? Her mom was dark skin, how could someone like Tisha Campbell play her dark skin mother? That was the point, she was a beautiful dark skin woman. I don't think anyone known would be apart of this movie. I would wanna see someone new play Winter myself. I don't really know about anyone else.
Dana posts on 12/22/2006 6:09:50 PM First of all whoever thinks that the girl from "Akeelah and the bee" should play winter must be both blind and crazy because for one she is not pretty or old enough and shes definantly not hood, if yall want to go there than yall were better off going with raven symone or Jennifer freeman the girl from the sitcom "My wife and Kids" Honestly I think that either Meagan Good or Ashanti should be winter, Tyreese should be midnight, Mel Jackson the guy that played bird's ex-boyfriend in the movie "Soulfood" should be the father and somebody like Gabrielle union or Vivica Fox should play the mother. Plus I'm working on a novel of my own so Im pretty much good with caracters and sister souljah is the one who inspired me, Thanks Sister Souljah!

quortnee posts on 12/22/2006 10:57:05 AM along with alot of the rest of the people on here i would love to see there be a movie made based on this book. i love this book ive read it several times and each time i read it staright through because i cant put it down...and if there would be a movie made...uh watch it all the time. hopefully if there was a movie made it would be just as good as the book or hopefully even better.
bigfan posts on 12/21/2006 11:01:24 PM I read this book YEARS ago and it is definitely one of my favorites. I've been waiting for this movie for a long time and it must be perfect. I've been saying ever since I read this book that Winter to be played by a newcomer. Winter needs to be a fresh face, someone who can totally embody this character. Also, the actress portraying Winter must be the bomb! I can't tell you how disappointed I would be if they picked an average looking chick to play Winter. She has to have it all...looks, body and attitude. As for the rest of the characters, I think that some of the names thrown out as Winter (Meagan Goode, Lauren London, etc.) would be good for her friends. The only other person I'm most concerned about is Midnight and I think Mekhi Phifer is the only choice. He is still my number one chocolate hunk (remember him as Lem in Soul Food?) That's when he displaced Morris Chestnut). MAKE THIS MOVIE ASAP!
l ceaserfrom TN posts on 12/19/2006 1:57:39 PM I read the book and i must say it was the best book I've ever read. I'm an avid reader and i hadn't come across one that was even close. I can't wait until the movie comes out and i agree with everyone about the characters with an exception of Tyrese. He is not a good actor and he would probably mess the movie up.
Ivy posts on 12/16/2006 10:18:06 PM Like Shauna I agree with every Actor and Actress listed to play the parts and I wonder too why this book is not yet a movie! There were times when I read it and I couldn't believe what I was reading; however I knew every word written was HONEST and that many people have been in Winter's or Midnight's shoes. If they allow our children to read "Angela's Ashes" this is definitely a book that should also be classified: Required Reading!
deelow posts on 12/16/2006 4:11:13 PM I came up with a great ideal on the closing credits maybe they should use the song "where were you when I needed you last winter",by Stevie Wonder.
Anonymous posts on 12/16/2006 10:34:03 AM I have been hearing the buzz that my Favorite Book Ever could possibly be turned into a movie. This book was given to me by my sister, as she handed me the book she said "you need to read this, the character Winter is you, minus all the crazy drama." I read the book and it was a wrap.I fell in love, I never put that book down. I have been majoring in all aspects of the performing arts since middle school, and I'd love to try out for the part of Winter. Does anyone know who I can contact to get ALL the info? Even if I don't get the part, I just want to try. If it's not me,lol then I definately think that Lauren London (New New) would be great for grown up Winter.
CM posts on 12/15/2006 7:14:43 PM I don't agree that Tyrese should play Midnight..though he is a great actor he's too played out and old and doesn't fit the personality discription of Midnight. He should be played by a newcomer ..someone strong and dark and smart. Lauren London (new-new from Atl) would be PERFECT as Winter. Also, this book is too great to give out parts o commercial rappers to further their career. All parts should be played by real black actors who would do this story justice.
