Stephen Leather Message Board

Maz posts on 3/24/2012 8:16:41 AM Have to agree with the last commenter. I have just finished reading a Stephen Leather book, and afterwards I was left with an uncomfortable feeling that he could well be a racist. Yes - his characters are doing the talking, but they get their strange ideas from him. And some of the stuff he publishes on his (thank goodness) unpopular blog - are embarrassing, the racism is there in buckets.

Edward posts on 3/11/2011 11:35:43 AM This man in my opinion if he is not a racist, he does a very good impression of being one. I am referring to his new book, entitled "Rough Justice" in which "Dan Shepard" the main charachter has to infiltrate a TSG group who have turned into vigilantes. Lovely quotes such as "searchlight don't know what they're talking about, that's why they threw egg in nick griffin's face. England First (a ficticious political party, based on the BNP and EDL) talk sense" and "you don't see any good romanians in this country, no romanian doctors, no romanian engineers, not even any romanian cockle-pickers, just scumbags like you". It might be the views of the carachters, but it was the author who wrote them. He has a very good way of villifying the criminals and making the actions of the TSG group (such as cutting the balls off of a romanian pair of people traffickers, lovely...) seem almost acceptable. This is one i would most certainly reccomend to anyone who reads the Daily Mail.
