Jim posts a message on 8/13/2007 10:28:25 PM Martha - Long time we heard from you, and hope you doing well!. I was wondering if you have heard from the media regarding the released of the video of the Golden Boot Award ceremony?. Please advise. I'll be at Bill's father ranch in October for my regular visit.
Jim posts a message on 8/13/2007 10:18:21 PM Mike & Laurie - I was driving thru RRC in June & couldn't help to stop & take few shots of TBC movie sets. Interesting that the almost exact set in BC aka "Hagen Canyon" was used in the movie "Man of the West". Don't know which was film first, since both movies were released in 1958. Anyway, I'll be driving thru Mojave again the 18th of October, on my way to Stockton & be happy to join you in the tour of LCC. ps: A total of 55 featured movies have been filmed in RRC. One I recall was the 1969 "Beneath the Planet of the Apes".
Jim posts a message on 8/13/2007 9:54:29 PM Dennis - Regarding the script, this is just an idea but, you probably could make your own by simply extracting the dialog from the movie, DVD or VHS ????. It'll be tedious but the solution to an interesting project!.

Laurie posts a message on 6/25/2007 7:51:06 AM Hello Mike, Yes, October would be so much better for RRC & LCC. Very early in the a.m. is the only time to be in the desert outside this time of year. There are times that it can still be in the 90s in the evening. So, keep me posted. I will be in touch soon via e-mail. Take care! Laurie
Mike Thompson posts a message on 6/14/2007 9:17:24 AM Laurie: Thanks for the reply! No, I won't have a 4-Wheel Drive, only a Vegas rental car. Richard Schmidt has offered to put me in touch with a TBC knowledgeable RRC Park ranger, but I doubt Schmidt will have time to go with us. The Visitor's Center will be closed as well during summer months. Laurie, even though this is a brief scouting mission (with short hikes intended for mornings and late afternoons only), I've been warned off going in July by nearly everyone. Please let me know ASAP whether you'd be interested in rescheduling everything for late October, when we could possibly have more people. We could hike at least half of Last Chance. I swear I can almost recognize the "Winding Canyon" sites on mapquest dot com's photo "aerial image", almost directly in the center of LC's 12 mile north-to-south length. Earthgoogle's computer simulations don't show it well. I know almost exactly where the “Blanco” Canyon’s entrance is (Northern mouth of LC), thanks to Richard Schmidt. I will be flying into Vegas on July 16th and out on July 23rd and have scheduled several outings. If you want to head for RRC in July, the dates for me would be July 19 and 20th.
Laurie posts a message on 6/13/2007 9:50:23 PM Mike, I will be out of town this weekend. I will be in touch soon. Thank you! BTW, do you have a 4-wheel drive? To get into LC, you need one. My daughter has one, so maybe she can go with us. She loves the place as I do.

Mike Thompson posts a message on 6/11/2007 1:17:51 PM Interesting. I tried posting my previous message with my email link in the usual link format, and could not post. Then I posted without the "at" keybord symbol or a real "dot", and off it went.
Mike Thompson posts a message on 6/11/2007 1:12:46 PM Yes, Laurie, let's get this thing going. My email address is mathompa at hotmail dot com Post me here if I don't answer you by tomorrow (Tuesday) night, in case your message doesn't make it through my email filter or something, and I will then simply post my phone number for you on this site.
