Dennis Spear posts a message on 8/2/2005 2:43:52 AM Martha & Jim I'd love to hear TBC in French and read the subtitles. It would give a whole different perspective. I still feel that TBC is one of the best anti-war (or anti-conflict) movies made.
Dennis Spear posts a bold assertion on 8/2/2005 2:40:33 AM I'll be rooting for you. Be sure to let us know how to get a video of the event. I'll watch TBC again...just to remind me of the lyrical moves you had in that production. It's an honor. Thanks
Jim G. Schwartz posts a message on 7/29/2005 11:42:13 AM Thanx Martha, Will make a note of it. Perhaps, it'll be mentioned on the news or ET. Jim

Jim G. Schwartz posts a message on 7/29/2005 12:49:11 AM Martha..., Your Right "Blanco canyon" is part of Red Rock Canyon state park, about halfway to the park on rt 14,a sign "Hagen Canyon". there is a parking area, then a 150 yds walk to Hagen Canyon AKA "Blanco canyon". The large mesa is know as the Acropolis., I would be very interested to purchase a video copy of the awards. Pls, keep us posted. Yes, I first saw the TBC back in 1959 in Paris and so attracted by it that I when back to see it again everyday for a week. The rousing musical score of Jerome Moross contributed greatly to this epic movie. Martha, good luck with your spiel at the awards. Jim
Martha posts a message on 7/29/2005 12:37:12 AM Sorry I forgot to say that the awards are the night of August 13th . . . .
Martha posts a message on 7/28/2005 10:16:05 PM Jim - how fun it must have been to see this in Paris. I remember I went to the sneak preview at the Village Theater in Westwood. I am so happy to see that 'youngsters' such as you are realizing what a great movie this really was. Re Blanco Canyon - I always thought it was Red Rock Canyon but I will see if Jean knows something we don't! Carol Baker won't be there as last I heard she was not coming re a visit to her daughter out of the country. It would have been fun to have both Jean and Carol there. Unfortunately it will not be televised. The Golden Boot is a charity event for the Motion Picture Country Home and Hospital. They do a lot of good and would be throwing away the dollars to spend their funds on TV. However - they do a video tribute to each of the honorees that they show on two 16 foot screens. I can't wait to see that! It may be a lot harder to do mine than the stars as I am on the screen such a short time --- there, there I am! Gone! And, I can get a copy of that. I will double check to see if perhaps they make a video of everything that we can purchase. I have my acceptance speech all ready and I want to do it without notes. I would rather 'talk' it. Hope I don't freeze up! Anyway guys, can't thank you enough for all of the kind words. You have no idea how much it means to me. I will put the pictures up on my site when it is over and maybe you can see some of them there. As they say at the races -we are in the Post Parade now! Thanks again to all of you. Funny but this will be the Second Running of this wonderful experience and that is the name of my site!
Jim G. Schwartz posts a message on 7/28/2005 9:50:22 PM This is to clarify the location of Blanco Canyon, being part Red Rock canyon state park CA. off route 14, 20 miles north of Mojave. Also known in the park as "Hagen canyon". It's been the location of nearly 55 movies from the 30's thru 70's including a short take of "Beneath the Planet of the Apes". Let's not forget "man of the West", which used most of TBC movie sets. Jim
Jim G. Schwartz posts a message on 7/28/2005 9:30:25 PM Martha..., Thanx for all your great info on TBC. I was only 12 when saw TBC at the Gaumont Palace in Paris. Do happen to know if the Golden boot award will be on national TV?, If so when is it taking place? I wonder if Carrol Baker will be there. As usual, I will be making my visit to the ranch in September. Again, standing ovation for your great stunts. Jim
Martha posts a message on 7/27/2005 12:53:11 AM Well guys - the count down has really started now. It will be here before you know it. It is a go - Jean Simmons is going to present my trophy for sure. Wish you all could be there.
Martha posts a bold assertion on 7/12/2005 10:40:55 AM Thanks Dennis so for the thoughts. I was thinking about you all all yesterday and now here is a message! The count down has started. A month from today we arrive in LA. It is so exciting. It has been confirmed, baring anything unexpected that Jean will be my presenter. I surely will ask her where they filmed Blanco Canyon. I wish you all were going to be there. It has been such a joy to meet this group. Please stay in touch. Hope I don't have a nervous breakdown - I am getting a little nervous now. Thanks again.
