I've been trying to figure out where the movie takes place as well. Roman talks about wanting to go to Whitewater to see an Elvis impersonator, which is in south-eastern WI. When talking about the bald-headed bear, they also refer to Clare County, which is in Michigan. The birthday party they go to for the oldest man living is supposed to be from Canada. The scenery definitely looks like northern WI or Canada. I know this doesn't answer your question, but if they were within a fairly short driving distance to Whitewater, it almost has to be in the Lake Geneva area, which is a big vacation area for people from Chicago.

Can you please tell me where the movie takes place? I think it is WI, but my friend thinks it is Canada. Please help!!!
