i'm a lover not a fighter except that one time.... posts on 3/9/2007 8:46:14 PM Hi. I'm only posting once, but Where the Red Fern grows is in my opinion the best book ever I've read it like a million times. I used to have a redbone coonhound too. They're truely amazing dogs.

posts on 8/10/2006 1:07:26 PM This was a beyond fantastic book...but like you said, the review was incorrect on some levels.
Jenna posts on 5/19/2005 9:28:46 PM This book review is sadly, very inaccurate. The dogs did NOT die of old age, one died fighting for Billy and the other died of sadness that their companion was gone. His original intention was to buy two, also, not only one. It said in a passage of the book that he didnt just want one dog, he wanted two, and that was another reason his parents could not afford to buy him the pups, for they cost too much. He worked for two years for 50$, and the price for two had gone down ten dollars, so he only had to pay 40$ and had ten extra, which he spent on a pair of overalls, candy, and some fabric for his mother. I am not trying to be rude to the person who wrote the review, they must have read the book wrong or something. As someone who has read the book over five times, I know what I am talking about. -Thankyou

aubrey posts on 3/14/2005 2:02:40 PM I watched the movie and read the book too, and i liked it a lot as well. In Idaho Falls where i live outside our public library is a commorative statue of Billy and his dogs that my grandmother made. I think its cool that Wilson Rawls lived in Idaho Falls for 17 years and re-wrote Where The Red Fern Grows here.
