Nick Cairis posts a message on 7/2/2012 10:46:53 AM Hah! I´ve been asking myself that question for years...... I worked as a screenwriter for a time and have a wonderful reworked script circa 1980´s. Everyone can learn from such a character the basics of life and living....
mark hanna posts a message on 7/2/2012 10:11:11 AM Why hasn´t anyone done a remake of this fabulous character with his down to earth philosophy?
nick Cairis posts a message on 12/20/2007 12:10:28 AM Yea, that's gotta be me! They waived reform school for me on the promise that my mother take me out of the sate to go live with my uncle in New York... I think I actually remember. I really remember that round black iron stove and the wood Mikhali would chuck in in the back room, do you?

nick Cairis posts a message on 1/23/2006 8:49:08 PM Dear George, Here is the family tree going back a few generations. Great grandfather Mikhalis Kairis from Constantinople. Settled on Leros, Dodecanese Islands. He had two sons: Zani and Nikolas. Nikolas eldest son was Mikhalis. Then there was Loukas died two years after birth; Emmanuel (my father) Leonidas who lost a leg during WWII, Vasilis and Maria. Mikhalis jumped ship to Canada and came down to New York. I was at the house on Rockaway Blvd. my sister and I when very young and Yolanda was there. Yolanda was Mikhalis first daughter with his first wife whom he brought from France. Both died on Leros. Yolanda had no children, and died 6 months after her husband from grief (true love) she was light haired and had blue eyes. My mother and I stayed some months at the house as I was kind of a juvenile delinquent at the time. That was in 1964-65. I am an actor. In fact I worked today on the film "Stiffs" with Danny Aiello. I played a mobster killer in a flashback scene. Mikhali was in a movie and maybe you have the still shot of him? It was a Canadian film by a Greek director. I remember it... Mikhali and my father did not talk for some years, but I do not know why. The Kairis are kind of crazy. Let me know if you want to know any more? And stay in touch! Nikolas
George Vanarthos posts a message on 1/23/2006 2:16:21 PM Mabel was my grandmother. Amazing!!! Although Michael Cairis was not my grandfather, he took me in and raised me as though I was his grandson. He was, Papou Mike. A soft spoken man of large physical stature, worked in construction past retirement age to put food on the table. A memoir writing class has caused me to genuinely reflect on my childhood at 48 years of age and Papou Mike comes up all the time. I googled his name to find out where he is buried, since everyone has past-on and your name came up. I didn't expect you to be related to him. How are you related to Michael Cairis? You say he is your uncle. I did not know Papou Mike had family in the US. Are you related to his brother?
nick Cairis posts a message on 1/21/2006 8:12:57 PM Hi, Greasball, That's a cool email. I remember how the Anglo-Saxons and especially the Irish like to say that when I grew up. I forgot that I posted anything about "Stiffs" the movie which is a black comedy about an older Italian gangster (Danny Aiello) who drums up business by whacking people for his funeral parlour. My scene is in a flashback in his mind. Yassou, file'
