Thomas (Martin Donovan) suffers from amnesia after a push out of a window (by his wife). He tries to find out who he is. He is taken in by an former nun (Isabelle Huppert). Slowly he is able to piece his life back together again and he finds out he is a rough pornographer annex criminal. Once his former associates find out he is still alive, they make another attempt on his life.
Best part of story, including ending:
It raises questions on the subject of identity. Are you your memories? Are you someone else without your memories? If you lose your memory, does that change your character? Could you become someone else entirely?
Best scene in story:
The scene where Thomas is in the bath tub and the ex-nun tells him she met Maria. Hilarious!
Opinion about the main character:
I like his frankness, the innocence with which he tries to find out who he is. I would have liked for him to get a second chance, but, alas, life catches up with him.
