And Then There Were None (1945) Movie Review Summary

Actors: Barry Fitzgerrald, Walter Huston, Jane Duprez, Judith Anderson

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of And Then There Were None (1945)

The first and best adaptation. This story has been made into FIVE films in English, and various in Russian and other languages. This Hollywood production is based more on the play by Agatha Christie then the book. In the book all characters die, but in the play and the film(s), the remaining two characters marry and live happily ever after. Casting is perfect, except perhaps Judith Anderson as Vera Claythorne. Characters stick fairly close to thosse in the book, except the changed the names of some, and turned Anthony Marstone into a Russian Prince! As regards the plot, ten people are invited to an island without knowing the host. One by one they are accused of a murder, and one by one they die. The murders are various and all relate to the nursery rhyme "Tn Little Indians". Whenever one dies, an Indian figure is smashed. It is soon decided that the killer must be one of them and people have to save their lives, and innocent people's lives, too, without getting murdered themselves...
