Another reason Enterprise stinks--the poor, misunderstood blob episode Book Summary and Study Guide

In the "Be nice to the blob" episode, where Archer and Trip and some expendables get caught in a blob's web, we see several classic examples of why this show is boring/irritating:

1) There are still no enemies--even blobs are simply friends the crew hasn't figured out a way to talk to yet.

2) The crew is so PC that they start out and end the episode worried about offending this week's forehead mudpack guest stars.

3) This is another one of many episodes where Archer/the crew is captive/beaten up/moaning about captivity.

4) There was way too much filler (this time water polo), and the episode was too slow. It would've been interesting if they had spent more time fighting the monster than watching water polo. It could have been interesting chasing the monster through the ship and trying to destroy it; instead, we get a morality lecture from Doctor Neelix.
