Brad Jr. (Sean Penn) is a teen living with his brother and his mother in a small Pennsylvania town. When his father Brad Sr. (Christopher Walken) makes an appearance at home one day, he seems to have money and drives fast sports cars. Walken introduces Sean to the rest of the family, a team of no-good thieves who are operating at night in the state. Sean and his homeboys start to commit petty thefts in order to impress Walken. When Sean is arrested by the police, Walken, fearing that his son may talk to the F.B.I., threatens and rapes Sean's girlfriend. It's too much for Sean who denounces his father's gang to the authorities.
