Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Bamboozled

Written and directed by Spike Lee in 1999. As the ratings of his employer CBN are extremely low, TV show producer Pierre Delacroix is asked to think about a new show by Thomas Dunwitty, vice-director at CBN. Pierre, who would like to be fired after years of frustration at CBN, imagines "Mantan: The New Millennium Minstrel Show", a concept that should, at least under Pierre's opinion, never be accepted by CBN's hierarchy. The show, which features every possible stereotypes about Afro-Americans, takes place in a watermelon field in Alabama and the black actors of the show are wearing blackface as in the thirties.

The show is nevertheless an instant success and is appreciated by the audience, black and white, as well as by the critics. But soon, one of the main characters, Sleep 'nd Eat, leaves the show because he doesn't want to take part anymore in this racist broadcasting. A few weeks later, the other star, Manta, is kidnapped by Black activists who murder him in front of the cameras and Pierre Delacroix is shot by his assistant Sloan Hopkins who was in love with Manta.
