Stuck in the Yorkshire town of Stradhoughton in the 1950s, Billy escapes reality by retreating into his own fantasy-world where success comes easy, he gets his way with all the girls, and life is excitement all the way. Back in the dreary routine of everyday existence, he finds himself trapped by the fact of adulthood and the responsibility that comes with it.

BILLY LIAR has been shot in 1963 in the northern part of England and is the second movie of John Schlesinger.
Tom Courtenay plays the character of William Fisher, a young man who, most of the time, lives in the imaginary world of Ambrosia, a world he has created in his dreams so that he can conveniently escapes the reality of his life. One day, Julie Christie gives him the opportunity to leave his hometown. What will he do ?
