Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Blame It on Rio

While in the midst of packing for a much-anticipated vacation to Rio de Janeiro with family friends, Matthew Hollins (Michael Caine) is stunned when his wife Karen (Valerie Harper) unexpectedly announces she would like a trial separation and is not going to Rio as planned. While Karen is to contemplate their troubled marriage alone at Club Med, Matthew is to go ahead with the Rio excursion, accompanied by the couple's moody teenage daughter Nikki (Demi Moore), Matthew's best friend Victor Lyons (Joseph Bologna) and Victor's nubile, flirtatious daughter Jennifer (Michelle Johnson).

In sunny Rio, the families have sumptuous board and food within the beautiful, full-staffed house they have rented. Along with the luxurious surroundings, perpetually horny Victor hopes that beaches and restaurants full of gorgeous women will take Matthew's mind off his problematic marriage. While Victor enjoys many a lustful evening, Matthew seems content just to brood about Karen and the growing hostility between him and Nikki. When Nikki and Jennifer decide to attend a genuine Rio wedding on the beach, a bored Matthew reluctantly tags along. With depression, confusion and passion (and an extremely naked and curvaceous Jennifer) clouding his better judgment, Matthew soon takes Jennifer in his arms and makes love to her upon the sand.

Although he is guilt-ridden and nervous, Matthew cannot seem to stay away from sexy Jennifer and her clever, seductive ways. When protective Victor finds Jennifer's diary and learns about her new, unnamed lover, Matthew faces the impossible challenge of keeping his identity a secret while throwing Victor and a suspicious Nikki off track.
