Jeff Bridges plays a recently retired bomb squad specialist who takes a job training new bomb squad recruits. After investigating the apparent accidental death of another bomb specialist, Jimmy (Bridges) fears that it was no accident at all. Soon those closest to him, including his newest trainee (Forest Whitaker) and his wife (Suzy Amis) are being targeted by the bomber. Tommy Lee Jones is the Irish terrorist who escaped from a British prison to seek revenge on the man he holds responsible for his incarceration.
