Young Calogero (aka "C") is growing up in his Italian American neighbourhood in a small apartment under his strict, bus driving father Lorenzo. When he witnesses a shooting over a parking space he begins to get interested in the other side of the neighbourhood. Much to his father's dislike he grows up to become more and more involved with gangster Sonny and C grows to look up to both men as he experiences the problems of growing up.

A very interesting story of a boy, who struggels between normal but boring life and risky but exciting mafia life. Very impressive acting. Robert DeNiro's debut(?) helming is a beauty.
