Michael (Idemoto) is a mechanic who works in the family business, run by his aunt. In his spare time, he reads and tends to his home -- a duplex. In the other half of the building lives Lori (Yuan), an attractive young woman and her boyfriend (Westmore). Michael and Lori have a strange sort of attraction to each other. At times, it seems she is using him -- since she frequently runs over in the middle of the night after having had sex with her boyfriend, yet speaks of fixing him up with other women. Conversely, they often seem to share a relaxed sibling-like relationship. The feelings become more confused when Michael meets Darcy (Kim) at the neighborhood bar. He is strongly attracted to her, but she is unwilling, and perhaps unable, to fully be herself with him. As he tries to slowly get to know her, she moves further away and he becomes more intrigued.
