A small town blacksmith (Blocker) is tired of being lonely and has decided to send off for a mail order bride. When she hasn't arrived, he is fearful the community will make fun of him. Well-meaning friends recruit Sadie (Fabray), the local saloon gal, to pose as his bride-to-be. He falls in love and his friends have to figure out what they can do to prevent him from finding out what they've done.

A great movie with an excellent cast that included Stubby Kaye, Mickey Rooney, Noah Beery Jr., Marge Champion, Iron Eyes Cody, and Jack Cassidy.
