Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Colombiana

Cataleya is the young daughter of Fabio, a Colombian man working for the brutal drug lord Don Luis. When Fabio decides he wants out to make a better life for his daughter, Don Luis fears that Fabio will try to kill him; thus, he strikes preemptively, sending his number two, Marco, to assassinate Fabio and his family. Fabio gives Cataleya information about Don Luis, along with the address of her uncle Emilio in Chicago, telling her to get there however possible. She also is given a necklace that holds her namesake flower, the cataleya orchid. Marco kills Fabio and his wife, and when he is about to kill Cataleya, she stabs him and vows to him she will kill Don Luis one day before escaping. She makes it to the US Embassy, which sends her safely to Emilio. The minute she meets Emilio, she asks him to train her as a killer. Fifteen years later, Cataleya is the most dangerous asssassin on the planet. After every murderer, thief, or villain she kills, she leaves behind a cateleya orchid, in order to leave a message for Don Luis. The FBI, growing weary of the countless murders Cataleya has committed, informs the public about the Colombian Orchid Killer. This gets word to Don Luis, who sends Marco and other cronies out to find Cataleya before she can find him. When Cataleya finds her family, including Emilio, tortured and killed by Don Luis' men, she finds the FBI agent in charge of her case and commands him to help her find Don Luis. With new info at her side, she can finally set out once and for all to kill the man who killed her parents. Best part of story, including ending: It's a simple revenge action thriller, the type we've seen before, but Zoe Saldana elevates the material with her performance.

Best scene in story: One of her assassinations involves her hiding in a killer's pool, dressed the same color as the pool walls so she's essentially invisible. It's a cool effect.

Opinion about the main character: Cataleya is ruthless but stringently moral when it comes to choosing her victims. There's a purpose: take the bad guys down. This makes her admirable if extreme.
