Scientist Peyton Westlake has discovered a new type of artificial skin. His lawyer girlfriend has discovered incriminating evidence against a mob boss, Robert Durant. Durant comes to Peyton's lab, demanding the documents, then beats up Peyton and blows up the lab. The subsequent injuries and the surgeries to repair them leave Peyton emotionally unstable, super-strong, and without a face. He uses his artificial skin can be used to disguise himself with other people's faces, but only temporarily. Peyton spends the rest of movie struggling to cope with what he has become, take revenge on those who have hurt him.
