Bruce Willis stars as Dr. Ernest Menville, a successful plastic surgeon. When he gets a chance to meet the woman of his dreams, actress Madeline Ashton (Streep), he leaves his fiance (Hawn) for her. We fast forward to the present day and we see just how unhappy they've become. Helen (Hawn), who had ballooned in weight after being dumped suddenly appears in their lives again looking ravishing. Ashton discovers that Helen's secret is an immortality potion. They need Ernest to become immortal too, so he can keep them looking beautiful forever.
