Peggy Gravel, an upper middle class housewife, forces her enormous maid, Grizelda, to sit on her husband. They discover that she has killed him and must run from the police. The women end up in Mortville, a bizarre haven for criminals and deviants. Peggy and Grizelda take shelter with a trashy, eccentric lesbian couple and, later, face the wrath of the depraved and debauched Queen Carlotta.
