John Dillinger is incarcerated for having stolen $7 from a stand. In jail, he meets the famous bank robber Specs Green and his gang. A few months later, Dillinger organizes his new friends's escape and starts, under Specs's leadership, to rob banks in the Indiana state. Soon, Dillinger sets aside Specs and takes the control of the gang. Specs rats Dillinger out to the police and Dillinger is sent to jail again. He escapes and, after having killed Specs, goes on robbing bank but this time, John Dillinger becomes the public enemy number 1.
