Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Dinner With Friends

Beth (Collette) is invited to dinner at the home of her friends, husband and wife food critics, Gabe and Karen (Quaid and MacDowell). Once there she reveals that her husband of twelve years, Tom (Kinnear) has left her and her two children for a younger woman. This unexpected turn of events forces Gabe and Karen to take a closer look at their seemingly perfect marriage, not to mention their friendship with two people who seemed to have turned against the kind of life they had all worked so hard to build and preserve. The two wonder if maybe they are headed down the same road as Tom and Beth. The story goes back and forth between the present and past. It alternates between present day Connecticut and New York City and Martha's Vineyard twelve and a half years before when Tom and Beth first met.
