The film is an hilarious romp through a Riviera town, where two rival con-men have made a bet that revolves around a seemingly innocent, wealthy, American heiress. Their battle of wits is fought with slapstick antics and a series of mistaken identities, but it all leads to their final discovery, which is that they, the players, have been played.
