At first skeptical, Steve changes his mind the day Gavin becomes himself a Blue Ribbon. In the company of his friend Rachel, Steve will investigate the career of Edgar Caldicott, the school doctor, and finally discover that Caldicott is making neurological experiments on students with the hope to erase in them their peculiar personalities and make them like their parents would like them to be : perfect, polite and studious.
