Down Periscope Movie Review Summary

Actors: Kelsey Grammer

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Down Periscope

Kelsey Grammer is Tom Dodge, a nuclear submarine commander. Passed over for promotion repeatedly in the past, he has not done well as the executive officer of other subs. An idea comes up with a chance to save Dodge's career. He is now able to get command of his own boat. He is shocked to find that his new command is actually a WWII rust and boats sub. But it's the best sample target for a nuclear navy in the post-Soviet years. Getting little support from the higher-ups for his new wargames. Dodge gets together a rogue-crew including a angry XO (Rob Schneider), a crazy chief engineer (Harry Dean Stanton), a not so good diving officer (Lauren Holly) and various other second-string sailors. As the Sub takes to the sea, it finds itself the quarry of the modern nuclear navy, barely keeping itself undetected.

Set in World War II, this film stars Kelsey Grammer as the navigator of a submarine ship. Grammer brings the same laugh-out-loud humor that is prevalent on his TV series Frasier. He's also surrounded by a terrific supporting cast, with Lauren Holly as his love interest.
