John Milton was dead, living in the underworld, when he discovers his daughter on Earth was killed. She was murdered by a horrific cult leader, Jonah King, who kidnapped Milton's granddaughter and is planning to sacrifice her in a ritual. Milton breaks out of the underworld in a fast car, bringing him back to earth with added strength and resilience. His goal: rescue his granddaughter before she can be sacrificed, see she's taken care of, and then return to the world of the dead. When Milton's car breaks down, he goes into a diner to ask for help, where he meets Piper, a sassy young waitress with a fast car of her own. He sabotages Piper's car and follows her in order to help fix it and thus procure a ride to his destination. Piper stops off at home first, catching her boyfriend having sex with a strange woman. Milton beats up her boyfriend, and with Piper tagging along, steals his car to head after Jonah King. Meanwhile, The Accountant, a ruthless underworld emissary, comes to Earth to fetch Milton and bring him back to where he belongs. He murders Piper's boyfriend while interrogating him, and then gets local police to place a bounty on Milton's head: bring him in, dead or alive. While the cops begin to hunt for Milton, he hunts for King, finding him at a seedy hotel. Unfortunately, King escapes, and Milton murders many of his henchmen while trying to apprehend him, including a couple of cops, making Piper the accidental accessory to a cop killing. They follow King into a church, but in a bad turn of events, the church is filled to the brim with King's cult. They kidnap Piper and take her with the baby to the site of the sacrifice ritual. It's up to Milton to catch up with them, save Piper, and rescue his granddaughter, all before the police and The Accountant find him.

Best part of story, including ending:
This is an awesome action movie with a fantasy twist, filled with lots of great gore, big car crashes, and plenty of wickedly funny one-liners sprinkled about.
Best scene in story:
In one scene, Milton is drinking whiskey, having sex, and engaging in a gun fight with King's henchmen-- all at the exact same time. This makes him the ultimate rock star action hero.
Opinion about the main character:
Milton dared to escape death to save his family. Plus, Nicolas Cage is the ideal star when it comes to these sorts of supernatural action movies, with his grandiose acting style.
