Actors: Jake Gyllenhaal, Michael Pena, Natalie Martinez, Anna Kendrick
|Plot Summary of End Of Watch|
Jake Gyllenhall, not only stars, but also serves as the executive producer in this flick about the lives of South Central Los Angeles police officers. The film centers around two law officials, Brian Taylor (Gyllenhaal) and his partner Mike Zavala (played Michael Pena) and the negative (and sometimes positive) aspects of life on the streets they encounter due to their professions. Not only this but how this occupation affects their personal lives as well as those close to them.
Whether risking their lives helping children fleeing from a burning house fire or going toe to toe with Piru Bloods, one of the world's most notorious and dangerous gangs, End Of Watch does a fine job capturing the officers life first hand. This is illustrated when Taylor and Zavala see a video of a drug cartel member putting a contract on the officers to have them killed. One of the highlights is after they arrest a Blood member, he challenges Zavala to fight, which Zavala wins. But the man gives Zavala respect for not adding assault charges for their fight.
Best part of story, including ending: It didn't have the traditional happy ending. There's a tragedy, which made it more realistic.
Best scene in story: The end with Gyllenhaal and Anna Kendrick singing Cam'Ron's "Hey Ma" in the car.
Opinion about the main character: I like the honour and integrity about the main character.
