Based on a play by Arthur Miller, Everybody Wins stars Nick Nolte as private investigator Tom O'Toole. Tom gets hired by Angela Crispini (Debra Winger). By all appearances Angela seems like a good samaritan. Tom picks up Angela at her home and they visit the prison where Felix (Frank Military) is being held for killing his uncle. After the visit O'Toole feels like there might be something to the case and Angela reassures him that she knows who really did it and why they covered it up. So enthralled with his presence Angels throws herself at O'Toole and they have sex. But O'Toole isn't fully convinced yet and doesn't take the case just yet. Through some standard interviews of Felix's date for that evening O'Toole finally becomes convicned and goes to D.A. Charles Haggerty and tells him he is taking the case. But O'Toole isn't able to get a new trial on appeal. At this point he finds out that Angela is a prostitute and has psychological problems. After going on a wild goose chase of an invesigation he finally gets photos of Angela with D.A. Haggerty. This sends O'Toole running to Judge Harry Murdoch (Jack Warden) in hopes he can set Felix free.
