NYC. William Hurt is a janitor obsessed by Sigourney Weaver, a TV journalist. When a man is killed in the building he's working in, he's got the chance to make the acquaintance of Sigourney. To seduce her, he makes Sigourney believe that he knows who's the man responsible for the murder. But the real murderer has listened in by accident to this discussion and will try several times to kill William Hurt.
