Face/Off Movie Review Summary

Actors: John Travolta, Nicolas Cage

Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Face/Off

Sean Archer (John Travolta) is an agent who recently captures his maniacal nemesis, Castor Troy (Nicolas Cage) who's the reason for his son Michael's death. The chase/capture renders Castor in a sort of coma. To end a terrorist plot that Castor already set in place, Sean undergoes face surgery that makes him look like Castor and infiltrates his criminal crew. Meanwhile, Castor wakes up and escapes and does the same thing, taking on Sean's face and poses as Sean at work and at his home. Both fight to regain their lives back and duke it out to annihilate one another.

Best part of story, including ending: Both are distinct characters to play so to see both actors switch into the other's persona was amusing.

Best scene in story: When Castor Troy who is really Sean Archer copies Castor's mannerisms and goes over the top maniacal then he realizes the huge problem he just got himself into.

Opinion about the main character: I honestly find Sean Archer to be weak vs. Castor Troy. His resolve to get Castor Troy isn't as strong as Troy's hellbent fervor to beat Archer.

The film is a classy film about a gangstar who tries to kill a cop but fails and kills his son. So the cop wants revenge but in order to get this the cop has to part with his wife for a while which doesn't turn out very well. But in the end him and his wife get together again and have even adopted a kid called Adam.

John Woo directed this revolutionary action mvie. Choreographed shootouts, extravagant action scenes, drama, and John Woo's trademark "gun ballet" seperate this from other mindless action movies.

John Woo directs this glossy mixture of extreme violence tinged with theatrical sentimentality like he did in his film ‘Bullet In the Head'. In Face Off, the plot revolves around an embittered FBI agent played by John Travolta who, after finally capturing the Troy brothers, Casper ( played by Nicholas Cage ) and Pollox, must use the surgically transplanted face from a comatose Casper to learn the whereabouts of a nerve-agent bomb from an unsuspecting Pollox. Things don't go as smoothly as expected, resulting in some clever juxtapositioning between the two main characters.

An interesting film in the way it marries a big Hollywood formula production to the direction of a highly respected Chinese viewpoint.
