Near future on Earth. Oskar - Montag - Werner is well integrated in the repressive society he lives in. He is a fireman whose job is to discover and burn books that a minority of people still read and hide in their apartment. He is married to Linda, a TV and tranquillizers addict. One day, Montag meets Clarisse, a young teacher, on his way home. He enjoys talking to her even if she asks him disturbing questions such as "Did you read a book once in your life, Montag ?". The next day, Montag spares a book, DAVID COPPERFIELD, during his job and read it the whole night through. He soons begins to hide books in his own apartment and gradually loses interest in his work. His fellow companions lead by the cynical Captain Cyril Cusack get suspicious and become potentially dangerous to him.
American/french sci-fi. What a melting pot!
