Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Father of the Bride

George Banks is a patient loving father living with his wife and son at home.   His daughter is away but she is coming home soon.   George looks forward to this, but when she gets home, she has a surprise.    His twenty two year old daughter is getting married, and to a boy that he has never met.   George is against this idea at once, but his wife loves it.    The boy, Georges future son in law is a member of a rich but nice family that lives near by.   When George goes with his wife over to meet the family, he is not very polite.   He goes snooping around their house, and even falls into the pool while being chased by the families guard dogs.    He is still fully against the idea of his daughter getting married.   Then, his daughter calls off the wedding, when he asks her why, she says that her husband to be lied, saying that George had snooped around their house and even swam in the pool without permission.   This is what George has wanted from the start, but he feels guilty.   He has to decide what he wants more, his daughter not to be married at the expense of her broken heart and his guilty conscious, or his daughter to get married and be angry at him.

Steve Martin narrates this romantic story about a man who is being forced to plan for his daughter's wedding. When the man (also played by Martin) wants no part of this, his wife (Diane Keaton) and daughter (Kimberly Williams) plan the wedding behind his back. The girl's fiancee is well-received by the family (even though the father is stubborn in liking him). The beautiful ending involves the wedding inside a big church and the reception back at the home of the bride's family. A modern-day Cinderella story that's a fabulous example of happily ever after!
