Julianna Baker is a second grader when she first meets Bryce Loski. She instantly falls in love with Bryce. While he is quite shy and embarrassed easily, she is bound to get her first kiss. For a total of six years, Bryce tries to keep away from Julianna. However, since they attend the same school and live on the same street it isn't as easy as he thought it would be. In sixth grade, Bryce asks someone else out so he can get Julianna to leave him alone. Then Bryce's friend starts liking the girl he asks out and tells her the reason why he asked her out.

During seventh grade, Bryce's grandfather Chet tries to get him to see the greatness about Julianna. The school then holds a basket boy auction where Julianna wants to bid on Bryce. When Julie ends up sitting with another boy Bryce gets jealous. Bryce tries to kiss her but she runs away. Bryce continues to try to get Juilianna back and eventually succeeds.
Best part of story, including ending: I really liked the love shown by these two kids. Even though they are kids they have dedication to each other.

Best scene in story: My favorite scene was when Bryce held Julianna's hands at the end. He was showing her his feelings for her.

Opinion about the main character: I really like how Julianna has love for Bryce right away. There is such a thing of love at first sight even with children.
