As Globodyne is entangled in an Enron-type scandal, everyone at the company loses their jobs, the pension plans become nonexistent and all of the stock in the company plummets to the ground. Before the scandal unfolds, Jack McCallister (Alec Baldwin), the CEO and founder of the company, manages to sell all of his stock and make away with $400 million.
After Dick loses his job, he and his wife, Jane (Tea Leoni), are unable to keep up with their bills and most of their property is lost. After spending months looking for jobs, Dick and Jane turn to a life of crime to keep their middle class dream alive, exactly like in the 1977 film starring George Segal and Jane Fonda on which this is based.
After thefts at smaller restaurants and banks, the couple decides to go for the big payday and attempt to get the money McCallister stole from his employees.
