Peaches (played by Mo'Nique)is a Baltimore hairstylist who travels to Beverly Hills in order to attend a party for her sister Angela (played by Kellitta Smith). Angela, who is a successful owner of her own beauty salon, has always had a fractured relationship with her sister. Peaches confesses to Angela that she owes the IRS $50,000 in back taxes and is desperately in need of cash to repay the debt. Although Peaches wants her sister to give her the money, Angela agrees to give Peaches a job at her salon so she can earn some cash. Immediately, Peaches starts creating urban hairstyles on Angela's conservative clients and injects her ghetto fabulous hair techniques into Angela's upscale salon. It isn't long before Peaches manages to step on Angela's toes by restyling one of Angela's clients and offering two for the price of one weaves. When Peaches hears about an upcoming hair show offering fabulous cash prizes she sees a way out of her financial problems. Angela, however, is not interested in entering the competition. When Marcella (played by Gina Torres), a rival salon owner, tries to buy Angela's salon, Angela vows to never sell out to her competition. When Marcella boasts about winning the upcoming hair show, Angela decides that her shop will enter the competition. When Peaches starts a relationship with handsome Cliff (David Ramsey), one of Angela's rejects, she is blindsided when, in a moment of drunken weakness, Angela tries to seduce him. After a huge blowout between the sisters where all their past issues come to light, Peaches vows not to help her sister win the hair show competition. Will the sisters manage to pull together to win the hair show?
