Harold is a wealthy, alienated 20-year-old who likes to attend the funerals of strangers. When his mother tries to fix him up with various possible spouses, he stages spectacular faked suicides. Eventually he runs into 79-year-old Maude at a funeral, and she awakens him to the beauty, possibility, and meaning of life. Harold announces to his family that he will marry Maude, but she has a different plan that will change his life forever. This is a delightful 1971 black comedy backed by dated but still beguiling Cat Stevens songs.
