Hitch is a romantic comedy starring Will Smith, as Alex Hitch Hitchens, a professional date consultant who helps the less-than-average guys in wooing the women of their dreams. His latest client is fat Albert (Kevin James), a total geek who is in love with the rich and glamorous Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta).

Under the supervision of Hitch, Albert is able to draw Allegra towards him and their affair generates waves in the world of glitz and glamour.
Meanwhile, Hitch falls in love with Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), a smart and cynical gossip columnist working in a fashion tabloid, who prefers to stay single. Hitch who is usually full of confidence and poise, messes up everything whenever he is around Sara.
As the Albert/Allegra affair gets famous, it attracts Sara's attention and she starts investigating the reasons behind this mismatch. She tries to find the identity of the mysterious date doctor, and expose him to the public. She is unaware that Hitch is in fact the mystery man.

In Hitch, Will Smith plays the date doctor Alex Hitchins. Hitchins has enormous luck at the game of love, and has earned a great reputation among love-sick men everywhere. He faces the ultimate test when he attempts to hook up Albert (Kevin James), a not-so-good-looking financial broker, with celebrity Allegra Cole (Amber Valletta). Albert supplies the movie with hilarious moments, such as when he does his dancing routine in front of Hitch. Hitch then meets and falls in love with a gossip columnist named Sara (Eva Mendes). Everything Hitch does to please her seems to go awry, but in a fashionably funny way.

Alex Hitchens (Will Smith) is a successful romance coach who focuses on discretely helping men date the women of their dreams. He carefully selects his clients and treats women as people not objects which is why he is so successful. His current case is Albert (Kevin James) who longs for the VERY rich Allegra Cole who would never notice him without the help of Hitch. Following the advice of Hitch, Albert quickly and easily lands several dates with Allegra despite their numerous differences (money, social status, beauty). Meanwhile, Hitch meets and quietly falls for Sara Melas (Eva Mendes), who is a cynical, male-bashing gossip columnist. Their relationship blossoms despite Hitch's multiple goofs including a waterski accident and food allergies. In a terrible comedy of coincidence Hitch's identity becomes public and his relationship with Sara is jeapordized along with that of Albert and Allegra.
