Detective Joe Gavilan (Harrison Ford) has been a detective for a long time. He knows the ins and outs of the business and he also knows that he can never get ahead financially on a cop's salary, so he sells real estate on the side. His new partner, K.C. Calden (Josh Hartnett), doesn't really seem to be into the whole detective thing, but he has to do something to make ends meet in between teaching yoga classes and trying to become an actor. When these two mismatched detectives catch a multiple homicide at a popular new hip hop club, Gavilan knows that there is something not quite right with the scenario, especially after he finds out that the killers were murdered to cover the trail of whoever hired them. As Gavilan and Calden follow the clues to a powerful music mogul, they quickly discover that, not only are their lives on the line, but their jobs and reputations...

I thought that this movie was hilarious! Harrison Ford is so funny in his role as Joe Gavilan. He was a smart detective, but he spent more time worrying about this huge real estate deal that he had cooked up and he was always on his cell phone about it - even while he was chasing the bad guys in a high-speed pursuit. Josh Hartnett was equally funny in his role as the whole 'sensitive guy' thing, trying to figure out what he wanted to do in life and keeping up with all of the girls' names that he dated (he always guessed the wrong one!). There is also a great foot chase scene involving Josh, a suspect and a canal with bridges, but the best was the car chase sequence at the end. Both Harrison Ford and Josh Hartnett really shone in this movie and I found it to be both fast paced and entertaining. There are many people who complain that it seems like there is no order to the plot, but I loved that because it felt like real life where random things pop in and out of your day and you just deal with it and move on. The director has this film set up for a sequel, but due to the poor box office, I doubt if we will be fortunate enough to see this cast reunited. A pity as I think that this could have been a great series!
