Birdee Pruitt (Bullock) has a life most people would envy. That is until her cheating husband reveals on a national TV talk show that he is having an affair with her closest friend! Devastated by her loss, Birdee and her young daughter head back to her mother and the small town she left behind. Once there she becomes reacquainted with a friend from her high school days, Justin Matisse (Connick, Jr.)and soon a romance ignites.
