Detailed plot synopsis reviews of Igor

This is the story of a humble laboratory assistant who dreams some day of being a famous mad scientist. The lead character in this animation film is Igor (with the voice of John Cusack). He lives in the town of Malaria, which is ruled by King Malbert (with the voice of Jay Leno). A long time ago, the weather in Malaria changed to be permanently dark, cloudy, and gloomy. The people suffered greatly until the King came up with the idea of inventing evil things. They use them to threaten the world into paying Malaria not to destroy the world. The town prospered again when it turned to making evil things. There are only two classes of people, the mad scientists, who are the ruling class, and their humble servants. Anyone born with a hunchback becomes a laboratory assistant automatically. They are each assigned to work for their entire lives for a specific mad scientist. This is their fate.

Each year, they have a contest to see which evil scientist creates the most destructive invention. One evil scientist Dr. Schadenfreude (with the voice of Eddie Izzard) has been the winner of the contest many years in a row. They way he achieves this is by cheating. His girlfriend named Jaclyn (with the voice of Jennifer Coolidge) is able to change to any type of woman she chooses to be. In different forms, she is the girlfriend to all the top evil scientists. She steals their best ideas for evil inventions. She gives them to her boyfriend Dr. Schadenfreude. This is why he always wins the annual contest.

Igor works with his boss, the evil scientist Dr. Glickenstein (with the voice of John Cleese). They are workign on a rocket ship, when it explodes, blowing Dr. Glickenstein to pieces. Igor sees this as an opportunity to invent something himself using the lab, now his boss is dead. He gets help from two inventions he made previously. One is a rabbit named Scamper (with the voice of Steve Buscemi) that he gave the power of eternal life. Scamper is sick of living and tries many ways to kill himself. Each attempt fails and he is immediately restored to life once again. The other invention is a brain in a jar (with the voice of Sean Hayes), who is a complete idiot.

For his next invention, Igor makes a gigantic young woman named Eva (with the voice of Molly Shannon) from mixed body parts. He energizes her and she comes to life. She breaks out of the lab. They chase after her. When they find her, she is gently playing with blind orphans. She is supposed to be an evil monster, but she is exactly the opposite. She is kind and gentle. She has only one evil bone in her body, but for some reason it did not activate correctly. They take her to be brainwashed into being evil as she is supposed to be. The brainwashing fails when she watches a program about becoming an actor instead of the one she was supposed to watch about being a mass murderer. On the way back to the laboratory, Dr. Schadenfreude tries to steal her. They have a high-speed chase, almost fall off a cliff, but Eva saves them from falling.

Back at the lab, Igor tries to make Eva be evil but she refuses. Igor gets an inspired idea to tell her she will be auditioning for a part. This is how Igor gets her to practice for the annual contest. He helps her practice to be Annie singing the song “Tomorrow”, while at the same time telling her in this version of Annie she must smash things. She thinks it must be an avant-garde performance of Annie, but she goes along with it since she believes it is an audition for an acting role. While rehearsing together Igor starts to like her.

Right before the annual contest Dr. Schadenfreude and his girlfriend Jaclyn come to see Igor and Eva. Jaclyn appears as Heidi who was the girlfriend of Dr. Glickenstein before he blew up. As Heidi, she gets Igor to come out of the rehearsal space to talk with her on the balcony. Dr. Schadenfreud convinces Eva of Igor's disdain for her. He proves this to her by showing her through the window Igor kissing Heidi. From Eva's point of view, she cannot see Heidi is forcing herself on Igor. Eva leaves with Dr. Schadenfreud.

Dr. Schadenfreud rehearses her for the annual contest. He wants to make her evil so he forces her to slap him. When she does the one evil thing of hitting him, it triggers the evil bone in her body. She goes into a rage. She enters the contest and rapidly destroys all the other contenders. Igor and his two helpers try to figure out a way to get her back. At the annual contest, they discover what everyone thinks is a broadcast tower is actually a weather modification system. The King has been lying all this time about the weather, because he put up the machine, which makes the bad weather. While Eva is destroying all the other competition, Rabbit and Brain destroy the weather machine. Igor enters the arena to talk with Eva. She is about to tear the whole place down when the sun suddenly starts shining through a hole in the roof. Eva changes back into her sweet self. The evil scientist Dr. Schadenfreud is crushed to death by the falling weather machine tower. His girlfriend, Jaclyn, runs out of shape-changing pills and turns back into a hunchback. The populace is free from bad weather and no longer must be evil. Igor and Eva fall in love. They open a musical theater in the new happier town of Malaria and close the film by singing with the blind orphans on stage.
Best part of story, including ending: This movie turns creepy into very funny.

Best scene in story: I like the scene when Eva comes out of the brainwash experience and wants to be an actress, doing things she thinks actresses do, like adopting children from all over the world, because it is like her thoughts have been replaced with those of Angelina Jolie which is very funny.

Opinion about the main character: If he just did not have a hunchback, he would be much cuter.
