IN DREAMS is a movie co-written and directed by Neil Jordan in 1999.
Claire and Paul Cooper live with their 8 years old daughter Rebecca in a house near a lake created by a dam 25 years ago. Claire does have recurrent dreams about a little girl taken away by an unknown stranger. As a child has recently disappeared in the neighborhood, Paul goes to the police but is told that the child has already been found, murdered. But Claire's dreams don't stop and when Rebecca is also kidnapped and murdered, she understands that she has misinterpretated her dreams that concerned her own daughter. She tries to commit suicide but, after a 6 weeks coma, comes back to life. She talks about her dreams to Stephen Rea, a psychiatrist, who takes the decision to lock Claire into a mental hospital after the nearly complete destruction of her house by an insane Claire. Claire argues that the killer does have the mental power to enter her dreams and possess her. She now dreams about her husband's death and accidentally discovers that the murderer was also locked in the same mental institution 25 years ago. She decides to let him completely possess her in order to have the ability to finally meet him.

Well, superb cinematography but completely artificial. Too bad.
