This is the story of the French resistance at the end of the German occupation of Paris. An all star cast through various sub-plots, shows the cat-and-mouse tactics, and political intrigues and fighting in trying to save Paris from destruction by the Germans. Paris is about to fall and the German general has received orders to burn the city. While he is struggling with his moral objections, several groups are fighting to take control of the city, and save it.

As the Allied armies close in on Paris, Hitler orders his new commander to burn Paris before losing it. Meanwhile the French Resistance begins open rebellion. This all-star international cast epic is based on the novel by the same name. All the actors are speaking their native languages, and all of them, except Hitler, are dubbed in the English version. The dialogue is a little stilted, but the best part of this movie is the genuine war footage and realistic recreation of wartime Paris. Not to be confused with "Paris is Burning," a documentary about drag queens.
