This Academy Award performance is based on Charlotte Bronte's classic of passion and intrigue. Jane Eyre (Charlotte Gainsbourgh) is a young woman, coming from a life of hardship and looking for meaning. As a teacher, she is swept up in a life of passion with a wealthy gentleman (John Hurt)with a terrible secret he tries to hide.
