When a scientist is brought in, he examines the body and confirms this is the work of a great white shark. In order to protect the town, Chief Brody, Qunit, and Hooper head out in Quint's boat to track and attempt to kill the shark. This task proves more difficult than expected when they see the size of the shark.

The movie follows Brody (Scheider), the water hating sherrif of the quaint little town called Amity. After some vicious attacks occur near the water Brody investigates and finds that these were no boat accidents or killings, they were shark attacks. His feelings are concurred when marine biologist Matt Hooper (Dreyfuss) arrives and sees the remains of the first victim. Yet the mayor still doesn't want to shut down the beaches. A little boy is attacked and the towns people go shark hunting and they kill a shark -- but not the main shark. So the Mayor opens the beaches and the real shark shows up eating a boater and nearly killing Brody's son. The Mayor finally realzies he has a big shark problem on his hands and lets Brody hire Quint (Shaw) to kill the shark. Then the battle unfolds on the water as Hooper, Quint, and Brody sail out into ocean to kill the shark.

A giant shark terrorizes the waters surrounding a little island town. With the deaths mounting, a bounty is offered for the shark. A shark hunter, a scientist and the town's sheriff set out to catch the shark. The shark puts up a ferocious fight. The shark smashes the boat and it starts to sink. The shark hunter slides into the water where the shark promptly eats him. The sheriff shoves an oxygen tank into the sharks mouths. When the shark makes a run at the sherrif he's able to shoot the tank, exploding and killing the shark.

This is the best water based horror film of all time - what am I saying. It's the best film of all time. Plot - 3 men on a boat trying to kill a shark. What more can I say? From the opening credits to the sinking of the Orca it is sublime. With watching if only fot THAT dolly zoom where Brody realises he is watching the shark devour a boy on an air bed. Classic Speilberg, and classic cinema. I defy anyone not to like it.

Something is killing vacationers at the New England ocean resort of Amity Island. Police Chief Martin Brody (Scheider, at his manly yet ambivalent best) suspects it's a shark, grizzled sailor Quint (Shaw) is certain it's a shark, and young marine biologist and shark expert Matt Hooper (Dreyfuss) is pretty sure it's a shark, but the mayor fears the news will drive away tourist traffic and dollars -- especially for the lucrative July 4 holiday -- so he keeps insisting the bodies have been mangled by boat propellors. It's up to our three heroes to take a boat out and find the killer themselves. In 1975, two years before "Star Wars," this Stephen Spielberg movie was the monster summer hit: It grossed more than 20 times its $12 million cost domestically and nearly 40 times that worldwide, and spawned three increasingly inferior sequels.

Jaws is about a great white shark taking over Amity Beach. After a boy is eaten in front of everyone, Chief Brody (Scheider) is sent to get someone to take care of the shark. Brody hires a fisherman (Shaw) to capture and kill the shark. Along side them is the ichtyologist/marine biologist (Dreyfuss) who is there to let them understand the shark. This movie is great, a true classic of the time. Jaws gets a 10 out of 10. I guarantee this film will leave a fear of the ocean in you, it is that good.
