The two main characters in the movie are Rivka And Malka. They are two Jewish sisters who happen to live in a traditional community. Rivka has a husband whose name is Meir. Rivka and Meir do not have any children. Meir is already married but he feels like he should follow the tradition and get married one more time, to another woman. Malka is in love with a student but in her life she has to choose if she wants to be nobody, just a regular person, or leave the community she has known all her life.
